Sharjah Sustainable City, a fully sustainable community developed by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) in partnership with Diamond Developers, was awarded the Bronze Award for “Best Community Development” at the Gulf Sustainability Awards 2021 at a gala ceremony in Dubai.
The Gulf Sustainability Awards is an annual celebration that aims to recognize organizations implementing the best green practices in the Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) space. The event comes back to UAE for its fifth year giving contestants the chance to win awards across 14 categories.
Following a live presentation and assessment process, Sharjah Sustainable City won the Bronze Award for “Best Community Development” category, which recognizes organizations that excelled in demonstrating and adopting distinctive innovative initiatives to foster sustainable communities that flourish by unified principles directed towards creating a greener and more sustainable future.
Sharjah Sustainable City (SSC) is leading the global movement towards sustainable living, promoting a lifestyle that is compatible with the future. A working model of future cities, the development provides practical solutions related to food security, water and energy management, as well as natural resources conservation. The city is designed according to the three pillars of sustainability: social, environmental, and economic.
